The St. Cloud State Huskies defeated the University of Wisconsin Badgers this afternoon 2-0 in a semifinal game at the WCHA Final Five. The Huskies opened scoring with a Ryan Lasch goal at 19:07 of the 2nd period. The Badgers controlled the play in the third, outshooting the Huskies by a 21-5 mark. The Huskies battled through, and Mike Lee made some HUGE saves, before Travis Novak put the game away with an empty net goal with :56 left in the game.
With about 16:30 left in the game, two Huskies lost their sticks on the PK. The Huskies desperately needed a clear and Garrett Roe tried to make it happen. He went barreling into the boards head first, and Wisconsin still got the puck. He then writhed around on his back for :10 or so before play was stopped. The trainer came out, and then the stretcher. I am unclear as to what the injury is at this time, but will keep you all updated.
Other notes: Ryan Lasch moved into a tie for first place on the Huskies all-time scoring list.
