University of Minnesota sophomore forward Jordan Schroeder has left the school and signed a contract to play for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL who drafted him 22nd overall in the 2009 June draft. He finished this season with 9 goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 37 for the Gophers, a significant drop over last years 13 goals, 32 assists, and 45 points. Part of the reason for the drop in productions was the departure of Ryan Stoa (left early to go pro) and the season ending injury to Jay Barriball. This is a pretty big blow to the Gophers, but it's good for the other teams in the league as he was a threat to do something every time he touched the puck.
